With the warm weather last weekend, you can see signs of the coming spring and increased activity in the park as we get ready for the new season. Even though the Roosevelt Cottage and the Visitor’s Center don’t open until May 29th, the natural areas of the park are open to the public now.
We are in the process of cleaning up the leavings of winter, cleaning trails and generally sprucing up. The Carriage trails are open as well as the hiking trails, the observation decks, and picnic areas. The interpretative panels are not up yet, but the views are still remarkable.
Migratory birds are here, a Red Fox was seen near the road to Friar’s Head. This is a great time to explore nature in transition from Winter to early Spring. When you come be aware that some of the trails may still have broken branches we have gotten to yet, so be careful, but come now and enjoy this unique time of year in the park.
